This week, I started a new sketchbook, which is always exciting! I wanted to do something slightly different to try and push me out of my comfort zone, which is usually doodling in pencil or pen and making unfinished images because I think "this is in a sketchbook, this doesn't need to be a finish image because it's never going to be printed or put on merchandise!" So, I decided to paint! Paint as full a picture as possible! And, as an added challenge, not sketch out the image first but just put brush to paper and let whatever happens happens! This is a big anxiety of mine when it comes to creating which I have been working on since graduating. Having to accept the way you produce work can be difficult, but if you can accept that your style is the raw, natural pouring out of your creativity, it actually makes your work much more exciting to create, as you're not trying to achieve something... you're just making! I thought it would also be really good for me to try something different as it might open up a new passion or new ideas for my creative process.
